Vacherin
Covered in a washed, orange-tinted rind, its tangy, tender taste, full aroma and fruity flavour resembles an apple on the verge of fermentation. Great in a sandwich or delicious on its own!
Ingredients
- 2 slices Vacherin cheese
- 1 square loaf ciabatta bread, cut in two
- Butter
- 1 tsp sour cream
- 1 tsp mayonnaise
- ½ tsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 50 g cooked chicken
- Pinch of chopped chives
- 2 tsp finely diced celery
The Extras
- Pinch of curry powder
- Blanched almonds
- Mushrooms, cooked and sliced
Directions
- Butter the outside of the bread slices.
- Mix the sour cream, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt and pepper; spread the mix on the inside of the bread slices and top with the cheese.
- Add the chicken, the chives, the celery, and the extras if desired, to one of the slices.
- Close the sandwich.
- Place the sandwich inside the panini press for 4 minutes or in a skillet at medium-low heat for 4 minutes on each side or until the cheese starts to melt.
